Banshee 1.0 Release Candidate 1

We have released Banshee 1.0 Release Candidate 1 just over a week after Beta 2, and with over 24 bugs fixed and a few last minute features. Banshee 1.0 is right around the corner. We are now string and feature frozen until its release, so translators, please update your translations! Digg It!

  1. Diggin the new banshee, but how do you sync the ipod?

Before you could just press sync library, but now that's gone. What happened to that? I don't want to do each file individually... BRING IT BACK PLEASEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

thanks and keep up the good work

  4. i also really like the new features of banshee for example overall speed-improvements.

I read that the new branch will bring the lastfm-recommendations (as in similar artists displayed, not played in lastfm-radio) back in a more final release, which, i think, this is (Have no source for that, sorry).

Also i thought something like a filemonitor would be integrated or be provided over a plugin, since importing it everytime something changes is somehow ... lets say not nice :-D.

The file-monitor is really the last thing that is keeping me with rhythmbox, after the previous banshee got overwhelmed with a searchquery in a ~10k songs-library, which is normal these days.

I dont want to come of as ungreatfull or a troll, i just would like to have a statement so that i and maybe other people with the same requirements know what this release will be providing when its final.

thanks in advance and keep up the good work!

  5. My ipod worked on beta1 and now stopped to work :(
Yeah the progressbar is good but it is almost useless if your ipod doesn't work at all :)

  6. I really miss Internet Radio and the Recommendations plugin. For that reason I still use the 0.13.x series.

  7. Banshee-1 is looking awesome. I just imported 24,624 songs into it and it worked pretty well. The only things missing for me are proper handling of compilations (think electronica) and ipod playlist support. I just can't stand the fact that I can't see my CDs displayed in an Albums view and that I can't search by album. Please fix the compilation support before going 1.0. It would just be too frustrating for too many people. I did figure out that I could store my Library by Album in the Preferences, instead of having the compilations split up into individual artist folders which got ridiculous fast, but we really need to keep the compilations under a 'Various Artists' "artist" or "Compilation" artist, maybe even break it down by Genre or Publisher beneath the 'Various Artists' folder. That would fix it for me. I would MUCH rather have my Library organized by Artist/Album.

    Thanks,

    /djs

  8. Banshee by now really outclasses Rhythmbox IMHO.

    But for one thing:

Why, oh why can Banshee STILL not watch folders?

Each and every other jukebox application can do that; why not Banshee?

  9. @Everybody: A library/folder watcher and multi-artist albums support are very high on our list. They won't make 1.0, but they won't be far behind.

  10. Hmm, why aren't podcasts working?

They start downloading, get to about 15%, then disappear.

It's not a connection problem because it happens on all 15 of my podcasts. What's up with that?
