By outrageous amounts of popular demand (and feature pressure from Totem), we are pleased to announce tab support in Banshee! You can open your Music Library in one tab, your yummy Apple device in another, and be watching a video in another, all at the same time!
I'm really excited about this new direction that GNOME is taking. I can't wait for
tab support in Gnometris.
Vertical labels on a GNOME application.
ReplyDeleteI want to die.
lalalalalalalalala... this is a joke.. this has got to be a joke.. for the love of Einstein let this be a joke otherwise the only explaination has to be that GNOME is collectively aiming for a Darwin Award.
ReplyDeleteI can't understand why would I want tab support in totem... I can't think of a proper use case.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Totem and Banshee are programs where I cannot see the benefit of tabs. Also saw that gnome-calculator had acquired tab-support and thought to myself "why?".
ReplyDeleteTabs are the new black or what? Or so someone seem to think.
Gnome seems to be what I need, but I won't make the switch before the eog file chooser has tab support! How hard can it be?
ReplyDeletethis is great stuff. you can really feel how the gnome 3 announcement creates an incentive for innovation. rock on guys.
ReplyDeletenot funny.
ReplyDelete:D Iphone 3G support... that's so cool(a nice one hehe)
ReplyDeleteIs this the kind of madness that comes from GUADEC? I need to go next year!
ReplyDeleteJoke or no joke, vertical tabs are horrible. That's the primary reason I hate amarok.
ReplyDeleteThat is HORRIBLE, just plain AWFUL! You absolutely ruined the application (as did Totem folks earlier)!
ReplyDeleteThe device should be in the tree under last.fm. Those tabs make the ui harder to use (takes more clicks to use + you have to sometimes remember what is visible in the other tab), and harder to grasp (too many moving parts and elements in the UI).
This is literally a NIGHTWARE, thhe usability of Gnome applications (Totem, Nautilus, etc) being plain slaughtered within a few days :-(
I seriously wish they removed the whole tab widget from GTK+ to prevent this sort of bullshit from happening.
Hilarious, nice one.
ReplyDeleteI like horizontab tabs, but I hate vertical as is a bit hard read in vertical
ReplyDeleteI think that you should reconsider add vertical tabs. Thanks
Pacho Ramos
Are you sure that adding tabs simply for splitting Music Library from iPod is really needed? :-/
ReplyDeleteIf you go forward I expect that user are able to disable it if they want from preferences... Thanks
Aren't there more important things than adding tabs?
ReplyDeletethink!!
please, no vertical tabs. Rotated text looks hideous!
ReplyDeleteOh my neck, ahhhh! So painful! Please no more vertical tabs! Tabs are a good idea in many applications, but those vertical tabs, that's one of things I don't really like in KDE, but now in Gnome too? Please...
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome, Gabriel! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHeh, thanks for all the comments, many of them are as funny as I'd hoped this post would be. This post was definitely a joke (no code was harmed).
ReplyDeletetabs = yum remove banshee
ReplyDeleteSucks balls.
ReplyDeleteCome on guys! Has the GNOME community fallen so low that the only innovation space left is TABS?
They exist since the beginning of ages, they're really useful in a web browser, but anywhere else?
Crap.
I wish GNOME wasn't becoming so KDE-ish.
Vertical tabs aren't so bad, you just need to have /more/ of them, on *both* sides. That way tilt your head occasionally to one side and also the other and it helps prevent neck cramp!
ReplyDeleteok, here's me being stupid...i got here from google while searching for "banshee iphone 3g"
ReplyDeletewas that a joke? is there no iphone 3g support? Does anyone know of any iphone 3g support?
Thanks.
Hilarious, seems Amarok has something like this for real: https://www.whylinuxisbetter.net/items/amarok/Images/amarok.png
ReplyDelete(stupid!)
This is great! Tabs tabs tabs tabs tabs tabs! Tabs on tabs! Eggs, spam, spam, and tabs!
ReplyDeleteAll you commenters need to get a sense of humor.
